Crescent Heights Cleaned up!

Wow! The Community Clean-Up is over and what a day! A steady stream of vehicles lined up from 9 am to 2 pm. People came with wheelbarrows and wagons. Many made more than one trip! Thanks to Kellee Grounds and her amazing crew, homes and gardens in Crescent Heights are much cleaner tonight.  The City of Calgary supplied 3 garbage trucks with 3 wonderful drivers who directed, loaded and crushed an amazing amount of stuff. Metal recyclers collected a huge bin full of metal. Technotrash loaded a large truck full of old electronics. WINS and two young men collected gently used clothing and household items. These young fellows also pitched in to help where  they could. Treasures galore were to be found at the freecycle tables.  Wish you had come? Check the City’s website page for Community Clean-ups to find another community hosting a clean-up day from now until the end of June and starting again in the fall. We will do it all next year!

Are You Our Next Membership Secretary?

Help! We need a new MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY before the end of December! Our Membership Secretary Alison Martin, wanted to step down last year.  She has been soldiering on while we find a replacement but alas, no one has come forward.  After seven years of excellent service, Alison is really leaving this time.  For this very important position, we need someone who is organized, pays attention to detail and can work independently. Does that describe you? Do you have 4-6 hours a month to volunteer?

Here is what is involved: The current membership list is maintained in an Excel spreadsheet.  The Membership Secretary emails or mails a renewal notice to members a month before their membership is due.  Once the new or renewed membership payments are processed by the treasurer, they are forwarded to the Membership Secretary who updates the spreadsheet, assigns a new number for the current year, creates a new membership card and mails or delivers the card to the member.

We would like to update and automate the process, so if you are computer savvy and want to update the process, that would be a bonus!

If you are interested or want to know more please email us at with “Membership Secretary” in the subject line.

In case you were wondering… no new playground. The cover should read “PLAY GROUP”.  The CHCA play group starts up again on Thursday, October 12 from 10 am to 12 noon at the hall. See the ad on page 17 of the October View delivered this week!
