Attention Mural Artists!

Crescent Heights Community Association is excited to announce this call for artists to create a mural that celebrates our community. Centre Street is at the heart of our community. Not only is it home to a variety of businesses, but it also acts as meeting spaces and the gateway to our neighbourhood of Crescent Heights. Centre Street is at a dynamic time in its history as we acknowledge the history long before this community was settled along with its current connection in and out of our city but also as we explore the nuances that come with redevelopment over the coming decade. With the mural, we want to both celebrate what our community has been and all-the-while recognize that change is both scary and exciting but ultimately it is inevitable. How we change is a big part of that question.

-This opportunity is open to professional mural artists living within Calgary. Participants must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Artists and/or artist-led teams are encouraged to apply.

-This call is for original mural proposal only.

-Artist groups are welcome to participate but will split the payment for their mural.

-If an artist would like to hire an assistant, the artist will be responsible for compensating their assistant.

-Mural artists based in Crescent Heights are encouraged to apply.

The successful artist will be contacted by September 19, 2018. After which they will be paid $1000 to complete a design concept due September 24, 2018. Please note that the community jury may ask for revisions to the design concept after this date. The final design concept will be confirmed by September 30, 2018.  The artist will have access to begin painting October 1, 2018, with a deadline of completion no later than October 18, 2018.
