Calls to Artists!!!

Crescent Heights Village Trunk Show

Saturday Aug 21st, 2021

Centre St

Attention Calgary artists, artisans and performers! Crescent Heights Community Association and Crescent Heights Village BIA are hosting our first trunk show, ever! We’re inviting all sorts of vendors and performers to Centre Street North to show and sell your wares in this great neighbourhood.

Call for Performers (music, dance, theatre)

The Crescent Heights Community Association (CHCA) would like to support curbside concerts and other types of performances (dance, theatre, magic, puppets?) for Crescent Heights residents!  Through the generous support of the City of Calgary’s Ward Community Event fund, we will be able to give a $250 honorarium to a musician or performer for a curbside performance.  The musician/performer (or at least one in a group) must live in Crescent Heights.  In addition, we will encourage residents to leave a tip and would also like to broadcast the performance through Facebook Live so that more people in the community can enjoy the experience.  Musicians/performers must be able to provide their own equipment and be able to set up somewhere in Crescent Heights.  Musicians/performers will be paired with residents in Crescent Heights who have applied for a curbside performance for their block through a separate application process.

The Crescent Heights Community Association (CHCA) and the Renfrew Community Association are excited to announce this call for an artist (or an artist team) to create three artist painted crosswalks and a series of artist painted bikes along the 8th Ave bike route from 2nd St NW to 6th St NE.  This is part of a multi-stakeholder initiative, Unite the Heights, which advocates for improvements to pedestrian, cycling, and mobility-friendly infrastructure between Mayland Heights through to Crescent Heights

We encourage applications from candidates who identify as part of racialized, Indigenous, and/or 2SLGBTQ+ communities.  Applications due June 30, 2021. Please download the following PDF for details.

This project is funded by the Calgary Parking Authority Sponsorship, the Federation of Calgary Communities Activate YYC grant, the Crescent Heights Community Association, and the Renfrew Community Association.
