Thanks to their support, we’re happy to announce that ALL of the event proceeds from here on out will go to the charity Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan, who are supporting the women and girls in Afghanistan during this humanitarian crises.

Join us on Friday, August 20th for the second annual Crescent Heights Community Drive In Movie Night. We’ll be presenting the inspiring and award winning film, The Secret Marathon about the brave women and men who are standing up for equality and freedom by running in the Marathon of Afghanistan. The filmmaker, Kate McKenzie lives in our community and will be there to present the film.

Doors open at 7:30pm. Pre-show starts at 8:30pm with short films. The feature film will begin at 9:00pm.  Attendees can join with their vehicle and limited seating areas will be available for attendees without a car (please bring your own chair or blanket). Note that the outdoor ticket is $10 per person and the vehicle ticket is $20 per vehicle (as many occupants as your vehicle fits). This will be a socially distanced, family friendly event.

Food and beverages will be available for sale courtesy of our sponsor –Bambu YYC. Bambu will serve food, authentic Afghan tea, and 100 % of proceeds will also go to our charity partner.

The Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan (@cw4wafghan on Instagram and Facebook) will also be on site to provide some insight into what’s happening in Afghanistan on the ground during this extremely difficult time.

Stroll along Centre St and meet 30 + inspired Calgarians showcasing their talents and their wares! Cars, trucks, wagons, and bikes will line the street. With trunks open and tables out they will showcase their offerings!  Everything from paintings, carvings, jewelry, clothes, and sculptures, to flamenco, tango and heart soul performances.

Plus, check out all the amazing shopping and dining destinations along Centre Street. Local businesses will also be participating in this initiative brought to you by Crescent Heights Community Association and Crescent Heights Village BIA.

Bring your own chair or blanket and enjoy some live music outdoors at our beautiful Community Hall greenspace! We are pleased to present the 2nd Annual concert by the Gunn Blues Band led by a Crescent Heights resident, Greg Gunhold.

The Gunn Blues Band is a sophisticated Blues Rock act with 2 original albums. They also cover music from many popular acts with unique arrangements. With Greg Gunhold on guitar and as the composer/arranger, Brock Gillis and his Hammond B3 organ, Gary Weiss on drums, Jim Irwin on bass guitar, and Jill Bellamy as the vocalist, this Calgary-based “Modern” Blues band will show you “the blues like you’ve never heard them”.
