Membership

Why Membership in the Crescent Heights Community Association?

Your membership gives you voting rights as well as supporting family-friendly activities, events, and programs as well as planning, engagement, and placemaking.

The following services are provided to members of the CHCA:

  • Free skating on a volunteer-maintained rink
  • Hall activities (managed by volunteers and often for free)
  • Annual Stampede Breakfast
  • Concerts in the park and at the Hall (organized by volunteers)
  • Discounts on Community Hall rentals/bookings (managed by volunteers)
  • Community Garden
  • Ongoing work on a new upgraded skating rink; fountain in Rotary Park and development of the Goose and Bear park (all done by volunteers)

Our status as a Society requires that we have members, and together members and volunteers make this work possible. We would not be able to provide benefits to the community without you.

What the CHCA does for the community

Even non-members benefit from the work performed by the CHCA:

  • Liaison on housing issues with Ward Councillor and City (managed by volunteers)
  • Interface with City on growing our urban forest, pedestrian friendly enhancements and traffic safety issues (all done by volunteers)
  • Art (mini galleries) in Rotary Park (managed by volunteers)
  • Engagement with high school and CH business association (managed by volunteers)
  • Housing Development Permits and zoning change requests (reviewed by volunteers)
  • Hall upgrades (managed by volunteers)
  • Community and River clean up days
  • Community awareness news in paper and electronic format (managed by volunteers)
    • Content for the Crescent Heights View magazine that goes out to every home in the neighbourhood, as well as online.
    • The bi-weekly neighbourhood update goes out to anyone who signs up for it online.
    • The CHCA website includes lots of useful and relevant information to residents about the neighbourhood.

See the About page for more details on what the CHCA does as a whole.

Membership Committee

There’s no better way to get people more involved in our community than through the membership committee. Our mission is to increase membership in the CHCA. The committee meets 1-2 times per year to strategize our approach, and attends 2-3 CHCA events (like the Stampede Breakfast) to promote the benefits of membership. Estimated total time commitment is about 10 hours per year.
